Production company set to grow
Belfast Telegraph (Mar 10, 01:20 AM )
A BELFAST film production company involved in a much anticipated fantasy drama to be filmed in Northern Ireland said it hopes to reach export sales of Pounds 1m over the next two years.

Generator Film Development, set to help in the making of Game of Thrones for US cable station HBO, said it would be making a Pounds 450,000 investment to develop its management team and boost brand awareness on the international movie scene.

Invest NI said it had offered Pounds 85,000 towards supporting Generator's development plans, which include taking on six new people.

Generator's expansion follows last week's news that HBO had given the green light to a full series of Game of Thrones following the successful completion of a pilot which was filmed in Belfast.

The business was set up by producers Mark Huffam and Simon Bosanquet, who have together worked with Universal Studios and numerous other studios on projects including Second World War epic Saving Private Ryan and comedy musical Mamma Mia!

Donal Durkan, director of the Life Sciences and Creative Division at Invest NI, said: "This is a significant investment for the local film production industry and forms part of our ongoing support for the sector.

"It is clear from recent announcements that the local skills and capabilities which have been developed are placing Northern Ireland in an increasingly competitive position to win global production projects."
